Yeah going to be a long cold day today. I think a brief sun break then snow. I wish Dad Shadow would jump in there to help cover the babies. I saw a pic of 2 parents covering 2 one month old baby eagles in a Spring snow storm in Iowa one time. Hang on little ones!
bullet Van on Thursday 16 May 2019 - 10:23:57
I know eagles are built to take this weather but you can't help to feel bad for them. We need warm summer rains not cold winter ones!

doo-hick-ey......there is a powder/pellet that you can get at Lowes or Home Depot to spread on the perimeter of your property that is suppose to keep them from getting in your yard.....or you can put a mouse in a live cage where the snake cannot get to it, and it will draw them out, but that one worries me that something could go wrong and the snake could somehow kill the mouse as you cannot be there every minute. BE CAREFUL!!!

Looks like she picked it up about 2 hrs ago during the last feeding
bullet Lumber Jill ⭐ on Thursday 16 May 2019 - 09:21:04
Nikin, if you're referring to the dark line on the right side of Jackies beak, I think it's just a piece of grass or pine needle. If you scroll the feed back you'll see it wasn't there earlier

Contrails-smontrails, heh yeah. I'm ok w/knowing those. And am not one of those conspiracy foil-hat-folk.
Night snake hunt transpiring now. Headlight and a long stick. Can't have our pugs bit! (OK, yah kinda weird like those wacky nuts...) Snakes are near frozen now tho, easy pickens.
bullet Benny ⭐ on Wednesday 15 May 2019 - 19:34:12
That's a pretty big burn! Thankfully it will remain cool and moist much of next week. With a predominantly southwest flow, expect quite a bit of drift smoke in our area next week.

We had a HUGH rattler in our yard in Fawnskin a couple of years ago. He was living in the rock wall below the bird feeder.

I am not a flatlander but I do have a flat head.... forgot where I was going with this. Anyway, have a great Sunday everyone. Oh, I know, visit the Museum, sit in the shade with a cool sarsaparilla, and have a nice time. Yea, that was it.

From the other side of the coin: I was driving DTH, going the speed limit and had a line of cars in front of me. A old jeep came up on me very fast so I planned to use the next turnout. He didn't give me time to get there and he passed (illegally) on a curve only to nearly rear end the next car in line. He screamed at me as he went by. Did he have a woman in labor in the car? What on earth could be important enough to risk a head on collision? This isn't the only time I've had this happen over the years but it's usually a sports car. For those of you that flash you lights at me when I use the turnout for you...thanks! I always say"'re welcome!" out loud. My dog probably thinks I'm insane. She could be right.

I drive the Idyllwild road from Palm Desert, faster than most. I am more comfortable on mountain roads than freeways, but if someone is behind me, ill gladly let them pass, or ill pull over.

Aug 24 : 05:58pm
Tlingit! I just think we all need to obey the law! If you want to drive slow, then pull over! That’s all

Aug 24 : 05:01pm
wolfman If you go to the CA DMV webpage you can obtain the information for Driving laws in 103 languages!! When you go into a DMV office to pick up a Driver's Lic handbook, you can barely find an English one but they have one for every language listed. In each of those books there is clearly stated about the turnouts. Just like you and I if we have California Driver's License we are signing off to knowing all these laws and nowadays anyone can get a license. SO maybe during busy season some more CHP monitoring is needed which also generates income for the State so people get the message. To put a sign up with all the languages would obstruct the beautiful views of the mountains. If a poll be taken I would bet that 99% of the people who speed up etc speck only English! Can I mention!fanit dumb drivers again?
