Look up CA prescriptive easement. To prevent this is why you see people close off stuff.
bullet Lumber Jill ⭐ on Wednesday 15 May 2019 - 09:43:23
I am not familiar with the property you guys are discussing, but want to ask (for serious discussion)...if it is private property, do you have the right to demand access, even if you've always had access? My new neighbor is dealing with this. His neighbor has always parked in his driveway (because previous owner was never there) Now the new owner doesn't have full access to his own property because neighbor feels entitled to something that was never his.

On a positive note, regarding Shay Rd.... The fence will keep all the flatlanders from trashing it during the snow season... Leaving all the broken sleds and trash... I live on Shay Rd, am not happy with someone showing up and fencing off where people hike and especially ride their horses.

Prolly not Badger, sorry. We could get a dusting Thursday night, but that's after our deadline and won't be enough anyhoo. Will probably need to push it back to June 1st next year, but in some rare cases that wouldn't be enough!

There's a lot of discussion on FB about this. Someone said that there's a law/rule/policy something in San Berdoo county about not being able to block long standing trails. I hope so!
bullet BootsNBridles on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 18:36:40
Jelly, yep. But I suspect there is already an easement on his property. He SAYS that BBC moved the creek and so the preserve there, that he bought, is no longer a preserve and he can develop it. Nice guy to come into town and not bother to get to know the area.
bullet Jellylorum on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 18:08:22
The new occupant at Shay and Old Shay will likely run into some issues with the county. If he intends to park his RV there semi-permanently, he may need to have a building permit. To get the building permit, he will likely have to grant an easement to county roads for the 10-15 feet bordering the road. This is so the county can widen the road to the required 40 feet.

He will likely retain control over the easement until the county decided to widen the road. At that time, he will have to surrender the land.

These are requirements that are common in that part of town. I dealt with them when I built.
bullet Airport Razz on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 17:43:07
We lost the end portion of Bowles the year the Fish and Game had to sit there and keep the fish safe crossing the road. After the waters receded, we waiting for the county to clean it up so it could be used as a back entrance for the commercial businesses in that area plus a back door into the neighborhood adjoining. Never got cleaned up, just installed a heavy pipe rail across it and took the street sign down. I guess that was cheaper than safety or public access.
bullet Benny ⭐ on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 17:16:05
Imminent domain should keep him from blocking that road Boots, but I did wonder what he was up to putting up that fence. Assuming he plans to build or just going to park his motorhome on the lot?
bullet Van on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 17:14:27
Actually the Moonridge/Sunset/Sonoma intersection could use a roundabout. People are always confused at that intersection. The Elm/Monnridge roundabout is a solution looking for a problem
bullet QuantumBear on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 17:14:10

Don't think that will be a problem, artist conceptions shows a really huge boulders in the middle. Not exactly sure where the snow is supposed to go in that type of roadway?? Any county/caltrans people to input here?
bullet QuantumBear on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 17:04:06
can you picture flatlanders building snowmen in the center of the roundabout, sad thing I can
bullet Airport Razz on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 17:01:25
A few years ago before they started the nature trail addition, I saw plans with a roundabout at Moonridge and Sunset originally. Can you imagine 3 of those nightmares in a row. No one would ever get home to Upper Moonridge

AND the $%#^$#% that bought and is fencing the property where Shay turns to Old Shay has declared he will block the road and make the county put Shay straight. Through the lake? He blocked trail heads too. No concern for being a positive part of the community apparently. And will likely complain about how awful the mountain folks are for not welcoming his city-itis with open arms.
bullet BootsNBridles on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 15:58:01
Looks like the roads in the east valley are under attack all of a sudden. CalTrans is pushing hard to get Delta abandoned. Considering it was the ONLY way to get to 18 TWICE in the past year and a half due to emergencies that seems pretty short sighted.
bullet BootsNBridles on Tuesday 14 May 2019 - 15:56:29

I can't wait to see the first Xmas holiday traffic crunch and the first use of the roundabouts by people. first the confusion of how do we plow these followed by people being stuck in endless circles not knowing how to get out . Such a good idea. Had to be someone that helps design freeway overpass and junctions, should be very entertaining.

Electronics dropoff was May 11. Not much publicity this time. I saw it in the Grizzly.

The dump let me put my old computer in their electronics pile last month. That may be another option.

I am not a flatlander but I do have a flat head.... forgot where I was going with this. Anyway, have a great Sunday everyone. Oh, I know, visit the Museum, sit in the shade with a cool sarsaparilla, and have a nice time. Yea, that was it.

From the other side of the coin: I was driving DTH, going the speed limit and had a line of cars in front of me. A old jeep came up on me very fast so I planned to use the next turnout. He didn't give me time to get there and he passed (illegally) on a curve only to nearly rear end the next car in line. He screamed at me as he went by. Did he have a woman in labor in the car? What on earth could be important enough to risk a head on collision? This isn't the only time I've had this happen over the years but it's usually a sports car. For those of you that flash you lights at me when I use the turnout for you...thanks! I always say" ahhh...you're welcome!" out loud. My dog probably thinks I'm insane. She could be right.

I drive the Idyllwild road from Palm Desert, faster than most. I am more comfortable on mountain roads than freeways, but if someone is behind me, ill gladly let them pass, or ill pull over.

wolfman If you go to the CA DMV webpage you can obtain the information for Driving laws in 103 languages!! When you go into a DMV office to pick up a Driver's Lic handbook, you can barely find an English one but they have one for every language listed. In each of those books there is clearly stated about the turnouts. Just like you and I if we have California Driver's License we are signing off to knowing all these laws and nowadays anyone can get a license. SO maybe during busy season some more CHP monitoring is needed which also generates income for the State so people get the message. To put a sign up with all the languages would obstruct the beautiful views of the mountains. If a poll be taken I would bet that 99% of the people who speed up etc speck only English! Can I mention!fanit dumb drivers again?
