No good deed goes unpunished.

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.

R and I took a trip out to Apple Valley yesterday so we added some more mile markers between Baldwin Lake and Bear Valley Cutoff (where we turned off Hwy 18).

East coast salt test that is...

Funny razz, passed right by the brine truck. Immediately behind it was two CHP suv's, presumably doing an easy coast salt test...what bothers me is how much salt is going into the lake. Where's the masses of bluegill and sunfish that we used to spend afternoons catching and throwing back?

A 5 gal bucket should suffice. Just give Wisconsin's DOT a call..

Cheese brine, where can I buy some to marinate my politicians butts?

The Sierras use it but supposedly CA banned it decades ago due to being environmentally unfriendly and the wildlife are drawn to it, birds & brake for the dear munching in road! Wisconsin uses a cheese brine, go figure.

And read that the salt solution will not increase salinity level of the lake any higher than normal. Hope that is the case as we have heard this line of thought many many times in CA last few decades.

The brine solution being sprayed on the highways before a storm is something new this year. It does seem to help some although I don't think I'd want to follow that truck real close on a very cold cold night, as it will still freeze if cold enough

I have no reference of fact, but I thought salt was only used on East coast/Midwestern roads and especially not in a CA national forest area. Maybe they swept after dark due to less traffic?

Mountain art. I heard they were laying a salt solution.
