Yes. I cleared all the way up to the corner at Miller (first corner).

Thank goodness for my workhorse snowblower.

That's okay -- like they say, "You get what you pay for." Your blower wouldn't work on our million stairs, anyway )

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I was 19 as well and started working at Mill Creek. My first big fire that year, 1970, was the Bear Fire that started down below Keller Peak lookout. It went 50,000+ acres.

I still say I probably had the most fun working for the Forest Service. But the pay sucked and the way people were promoted was ridiculous.

I was a hotshot my first fire was on my 19th birthday only about 3000 acres but I knew I found my place lol

One of my good friends, George Motschall was my first engineer with the Forest Service. He retired as the South Zone Operations Chief in Riverside. I'll bet my retirement is at least as much as his, and I was only a Captain.

RRH you are so right about the SoCal guys

A lot of guys left for CDF now CalFire also DOD to be federal firefighters

I will add, however, this is more prevalent in Southern California than other parts of the Country.

I left the Forest Service for better pay with CalFire. I left CalFire for better pay with Orange County. The exodus continues. The Forest Service spends a lot of money training these good employees only to see them leave.

Trust me it has taken a very long time for the forest service to realize that they needed to pay there fire fighters a fare wage and give them the respect they deserve

Gratitude to the men and women on the fire lines. This year as in past ones, they are earning their money, and then some.
