Is the dam construction affecting traffic? Going UTH on Friday the 2nd and wondering which way is better this year....

Depending on when, there has been some delays at the Dam due to construction. I prefer hwy 38 over the 330/18 anyway so not an impact to me. I use the back way (Hwy 18 via Lucerne) a lot as my folks live in Palm Springs.

I have usually used the 330/18 and on occasion used 38 (nice easy drive)
However I have never used the 15 (coming from SD) to ? Bear Valley Rd to 18 the back way......does that add a lot of time verus 38? Curves don't bother me but traffic kills me... Thanks for all the input....

I use 15 to Bear Valley to 18 when I bring up the boat. It adds about a half hour to the drive. Easy driving though.

330/18. I'm on the west side so the extra time taking the other routes is just not really worth it unless there is an accident or construction.

Y'know, Nietzsche says: "Out of chaos comes order."

I prefer 18 to Victimville as well. Cement plane? I bet it has rocky landings and take offs.

I have a friend who's experimenting with some solar, at peak those dozen panels put out a scary amount of power, big issue is storage for use at night. And looking at a book on solar tech there's a heckuva lot to learn far as battery types and how not to fry them. For the time being Ill stick with the woodstove, kerosene lights, and century old proven low-tech to get thru the powerless times. Really the hardest part was a (very) cold bathroom in the morning, and trying to read a book by lamplight . I can easily go more low tech but all this has gotten me through two really brutal a winters...

Yes, my dream is someday to cut that ugly line that comes into the house. The technology is there but the costs haven't come into line yet, but they will. Part of that equation would be having a natural gas generator.

Too bad Edison won't let u run on these commercial generators . You have to be on the grid.... Edison isn't rich enough !

The house is on the market. I had a couple today look at it . It would say they were in their 60s. The really liked the idea of having that generator .

On my Gas bill no joke it showed an extra 1.20 for the generator. We lost power in RS at least four times a day for almost two weeks when we had our big storm!

Cinderella. What was your natural gas bill when it ran for several days? Of course the Edison bill should be small.

Hopefully, I don't turn to Running Nose or Watery Eyes tomorrow. (The kids on the street would have a fieldday teasing me.)
