This has been a long time favorite of mine for years, going back to when it was in the same building as the Robin Hood. The last year to 18 months it seems to have slipped considerably. We were there Sunday night and were highly disappointed. Many of the food items were empty, the serving buffet was messy and not cleaned the entire time we were there. The various sauces were missing labels. I will give them one more try and see if they recover. If not, crossed off my list!

Last time I went to the buffet I had a similar experience, none of the food was out @ lunch time, the ice cream machine was gone; usually I get stuff off the big grill thingy and it was good as always. Haven't been to Mandarin in awhile...

Us either. Gave them a couple of chances before the cow incident. After the cow incident we gave up for good! We go to Pongs. Her food is always good and consistent!

Triple that! Sorry...if you don't know that it's against health regulations to slaughter an animal in the same place that you cook food for custmers, then I dont want to know what other health codes you aren't familiar with!

I frequent China House down in Lucerne. I'll gladly drive and pay for a good dinner down there before they pay me to eat at Mandarin up here.

I agree Johnny! China House is very good and worth the drive to get some great grub! Arch, I heard that Barry was having issues with his lease. Didn't realize he is outta there by the end of the month. Do you know what he is planning to do? He does own that China Buffet that people haven't been enjoying that much lately.

Don't like China House because it's Cantonese not Mandarin. Different base for the hot and sour soup. Their paper wrapped chicken isn't the same either. Jose loves it though.....
I head the other way (San Bernardino/Redlands) for good Chinese though, since I live in the high desert during the week haven't found a decent place yet.

Thanks ATL, but I'm not really the backpacking type - too heavy of a pack. Several years ago I hiked Mt. Whitney in a day. About a month later, I backpacked up to Dollar Lake & then went to the top of Gorgonio the next day. That overnight trip seemed more difficult to me than the day hike on Whitney.

It woke me up. We rarely feel them in our house but this one was a pretty good shake. Must've been fairly shallow. Anyone else feel it?
