Since we don't have a "Spring" forum, I'm gonna put this here. It must be Spring - the blue birds are looking for a place to nest. I took this photo yesterday.
The prefer open fields with lots of things to perch on, so the fires have been good for increasing their numbers in the mountains. These are Western Bluebirds. We have seen, once or twice, mountain bluebirds that are a brighter, more uniform sky blue. They seem to be much shier that the Western. What doesn't kill me does NOT make me stronger. It makes me anxious, bitchy, and vulnerable...but nobody wants to see that embroidered on a pillow...Lisa Kogan...thx LXL...sorry i stole it from you! Ok, maybe I'm not sorry :-P

That fits in with what I have seen, R. They hang out near the big, open area between the village and the Forest Falls turnoff. That is a great place for lots of critters. It is an area protected as wildlands by the Redlands Water Dist. and has lots of wild berries for them.
we have been yelled at by them all week to fill the feeder, they wait till we sit down and land on the branches over us threatening to .... ah attack if we don't fill the feeders they are very blue and beautiful I don’t need your attitude thanks, I have one of my own!
If you provide them with a house, they will set up a nest pretty quick and provide you with 2-4 batches of babies in a single summer. The entire clan sticks together for the first year, with the earlier babies helping to raise the later babies, so your clan can build to quite a few! What doesn't kill me does NOT make me stronger.
