A proposal from the Obama administration to prevent children from doing farm chores has drawn plenty of criticism from rural-district members of Congress. But now it’s attracting barbs from farm kids themselves.
The Department of Labor is poised to put the finishing touches on a rule that would apply child-labor laws to children working on family farms, prohibiting them from performing a list of jobs on their own families’ land.
Under the rules, children under 18 could no longer work “in the storing, marketing and transporting of farm product raw materials.”
“Prohibited places of employment,” a Department press release read, “would include country grain elevators, grain bins, silos, feed lots, stockyards, livestock exchanges and livestock auctions.”
The new regulations, first proposed August 31 by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, would also revoke the government’s approval of safety training and certification taught by independent groups like 4-H and FFA, replacing them instead with a 90-hour federal government training course.
Rossie Blinson, a 21-year-old college student from Buis Creek, N.C., told The Daily Caller that the federal government’s plan will do far more harm than good.
“The main concern I have is that it would prevent kids from doing 4-H and FFA projects if they’re not at their parents’ house,” said Blinson.

Why is it that government wants to intrude, yes intrude, in our every day lives? Just another example of why BIG government is plain bad. Shut Up and Fish!

Oue life style is being destroyed. Can't blame it all on nobama it has been going on for years. These kids are about the last chance the country has. They are the only ones who are growing up as they have for decades. There are no jobs for most of the others because aliens are taking "the jobs nobody wants". It is not even all things controlled by the government. I got one od those the way we were emails the other day showing our cars and the things we did in the 50's and 60's. They played a lot of songs, one of which was "tell Laura I love her. That song was banned from many radio stations. It would be banned as too tame by todays standards. It is normal for every generation to complain about the music the kids play but it has gone farther then that. I even tolerated disco with no complaints. I think my generation was about the last that grew up with few limitations on our future. I would hate to think how I would cope with the way things are today. The saddest thing is todays kids have no clue of what it should be for them Except maybe farm kids. Lets hope the South will rise again. Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

"Which segues into the Obama regime's move to outlaw children working on farms and ranches. There are several motives for this. First, they want to eliminate the next generation of farmers and ranchers so that nationalization of all food production can be hastened and facilitated. Second, they want to force farmers and ranchers to hire and employ unionized labor, who will then effectively dictate how and what farmers and ranchers produce, and eventually drive them into insolvency and government takeover (see General Motors, et al). Third, they want to break the spirit of the young toward any desire to work, be productive or be independent. They want every single person to view work as something to be avoided at all costs, and total government support as the only "fair" lifestyle, to which they are "entitled".
What is my response to all of this? It is very simple, and I am being as serious as pancreatic cancer when I say this:
THIS IS WHY WE HAVE GUNS."
The above was a response by Ann Barnhardt. Says it like it is and not afraid. If you feel up to it, go to her website, it does change daily.

Forgot to add more of her response:
"If any government thugs show up on a farm or ranch and attempt to "make examples" of parents who are working side-by-side with their children, the parents should advise the government thug that they have ten seconds to vacate the premises. If that doesn't happen, the parents should exercise their God-given right to self-defense, as specifically codified in the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Aim small, miss small. All Americans should be carrying side arms and have long guns positioned for easy access on the home front. It has come to that. Further, if any parents are arrested or any children are removed from farms or ranches under this tyrannical edict, militias should form and muster and the parents should be liberated and the children restored to their home by said militias. It is that simple."

What if they unionize and pay income taxes? And those illegal babysitters too. What next, stop children from selling drugs to shield their parents from the law.
Hug your family, reach out to your friends, and look around at all the new friends you've yet to make. Prayers to all those whose lives will never be the same.
Everyday I am thankfull for something. Today a friend said "Glass half full, be greatfull you have a glass. "I would add to that even if your glass is dirty be greatfull you have a glass to clean.
I'm thankful for the warm sun on my face when I wake in the morning, the whir of my ceiling fan cooling me as I go to bed, my soft puppie's fur snuggling up against me, the fact I have food to eat and family and friends that I love and that love me. Every day I wake is a new day and new chance to do better. I'm thankful for my friends on SCM, sho are always there for me, worried when I worry and this last year with my daughter's head on collision on Moonridge in Aug and then the fire up the block form my house a couple weeks ago have been trying but it is nothing like a tornado where the school is ripped to shreads. I am thankful I try to help people and for kind persons I see doing it too.
I'm thankful for each new day that brings opportunity, pause for thought and appreciation. I'm thankful for my family : the love, the chaos, the laughs, the tears... All of it. Signing off for tonight.
Orr Family Farm media inquiries might be worth a try: 405 609 7068 They might be able to refer them to someone. Its a nightmare now. There are many many horses unaccounted for and they are racing dark to find them and triage them. Identifying them might not happen right away. I'd be a wreck waiting to hear about my babies!
I'm thankful for my life, family and friends, including all my horses, dogs, cats, birds and every living creature that I take care of. I'm also thankful I have a bed to sleep in and a roof over my head. I'll be reall thankful for the survivors of all disasters that have happened lately...past present and future.
As always, thanks everyone for the updates. Continued prayers. 2013 has started off to be a year full of disasters, loss, and fear. Anyone care to share what they're thankful for?
