R, Sirius and I went for an adventure today and saw 2 deer (mom & baby?) and a hawk on it's nest. I'm guessing this is the mother hawk sitting on her eggs that you see in the picture.

Jellylorum May 19 : 09:08am Also - watch your step. It is baby rattler season. Where there is one, there are probably 10-20 more. Saw a one-button baby - very pretty - that came from the north end of Mt. Doble/Gold Mountain.
Ernest T. Bass May 19 : 09:00am morning all, well I did not win the power ball.
Jellylorum May 19 : 08:59am There have been at least one cougar in the far reaches of Baldwin Lake and Lake William for several years. I believe this young one is trying to find his own territory, away from the old one.
BootsNBridles May 19 : 08:23am "Their ranges can vary in size from 10 square miles to around 370 square miles; females tend to have smaller ranges than males."

BootsNBridles May 19 : 08:19am Careful folks- if it was spotted in Shay the normal daily range will take it all the way into Erwin Lake and possibly even Lake Williams.
Jellylorum May 19 : 08:18am Actually, I believe it is 4.5 feet LONG. It is believed to be a young cat. Perhaps it was pushed out of the territory of a larger/older cat?
Lumbe® Jill May 19 : 08:01am Jerry B is having trouble logging in. He asked me to tell everyone: "A little heads up for the people out in the Shay Meadows area, a mountain lion was in a backyard of a house in the 1300 block on East Big Bear Blvd. close to Shay Rd fork on 5/17 Friday morning. The cat is 4 and ½ feet tall."

LA2BB May 18 : 08:15pm So sad to hear about the discovery of a body near Crystal Mountain.
