I was wondering if any biz owners here have gotten quoted yet for the upcomming years yellow page ads? The small local pages book ( the one with 5 pelicans on the cover). They want 100% more from me this year? Really?

I didn't think anyone even used the Yellow Pages any more.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.

Me either. Why use outdated info when you have the Internet.

I use the yellow pages to start the fire in the fireplace.

Y'know, Nietzsche says: "Out of chaos comes order."

Well, picture, if you will: The Ventura Public Library has phone books going back to the early 80's so I requested a 1986 phone book Xenon West which was an all ages night club where Craig and I used to go in 1985. I knew it was downtown but I couldn't remember where, so I looked it up.

We used to hang out at Naugles at 2210 E Main in Ventura which is now a Taco Bell. I couldn't remember where the Naugles was so I looked it up in a 1986 phone book.

I couldn't rememeber the name of the nightclub, I could only remember the general area: Main St from 300 to 600 on the south side of the street

So, I paid a visit to the library to find out where these businesses WERE at the time. A friend of mine, Jay whom Craig and I invited to a birthday party in April of last year (Jay couldn't go, he had a thing) mentioned the name Xenon West and he pointed out the place as he drove by!

I saw Road House which was filmed in 1989 near Magic Mountain but unfortunately the local library didn't carry outdated phonebooks becaue I could clearly see the name of a business in the background. I wanted to look it up to see where it was at the time so I could see exactly where it was, but no dice.

The point being: outdated phone books have some use

Well I guess I'll just sit here and blow up then, shall I?

Neither of my phone books have a pelican on the cover.

One is from the Verizon.

The other is the one that is in racks all over town; it has a husky dog on the cover. That one I keep as it has maps of various venues and maps of Big Bear, and coupons.

The latter might be worth paying for, since it is everywhere. The third, itty-bitty one just goes in the trash as soon as it arrives.

Hug your family, reach out to your friends, and look around at all the new friends you've yet to make. Prayers to all those whose lives will never be the same.

Everyday I am thankfull for something.
Today a friend said "Glass half full, be greatfull you have a glass. "I would add to that even if your glass is dirty be greatfull you have a glass to clean.

I'm thankful for the warm sun on my face when I wake in the morning, the whir of my ceiling fan cooling me as I go to bed, my soft puppie's fur snuggling up against me, the fact I have food to eat and family and friends that I love and that love me. Every day I wake is a new day and new chance to do better. I'm thankful for my friends on SCM, sho are always there for me, worried when I worry and this last year with my daughter's head on collision on Moonridge in Aug and then the fire up the block form my house a couple weeks ago have been trying but it is nothing like a tornado where the school is ripped to shreads. I am thankful I try to help people and for kind persons I see doing it too.

I'm thankful for each new day that brings opportunity, pause for thought and appreciation. I'm thankful for my family : the love, the chaos, the laughs, the tears... All of it. Signing off for tonight.

Orr Family Farm media inquiries might be worth a try: 405 609 7068 They might be able to refer them to someone. Its a nightmare now. There are many many horses unaccounted for and they are racing dark to find them and triage them. Identifying them might not happen right away. I'd be a wreck waiting to hear about my babies!

As always, thanks everyone for the updates. Continued prayers. 2013 has started off to be a year full of disasters, loss, and fear. Anyone care to share what they're thankful for?
