The other day I went back to take more pictures of Jack, hoping to get a picture of the parents. I also met up with Mel so she could see Jack. I saw a bird flying out of a tree so I started snapping shots. When I loaded the photos in my computer and cropped the photo to see a larger view, this is what I found. Originally I thought I was taking a picture of a raven. He was kind of far away but, not as far as Jack.

Can anyone ID this bird for me? I'm hoping someone says it's another Juvenile eagle!

It looks like Jack. Did you see him in his nest when this one was flying around? There probably are other juvi's in the area, but Jacks folks aren't going to let them hang around Grout Bay area. We've seen them presumably chasing other eagles away. Also...juvi goldens would look like this as well. They are nearly impossible to distinguish from immature baldies

Interesting! I know there is a red tail hawk in the same area, but this is clearly not one. His parents must not have been around if another eagle was close! The silhouette could be a raven...it's hard to tell without perspective to judge its size. [Click Here]

Allen< Thanks for the update on the roads. I will stay home. Hwy 18 to Lucerne has one way traffic, Hwy 38 has construction and one-way traffic. There will probavly be a head on collision on Hwy 330 and 18 closing the road for a day or so. Thanks to the geni at CALTRANS.

Anyone know more about the list of "Road Status Changes" on Hwy 38? It's a true mystery to me at this point.

Sun Diego. The CNN report is correct and we here in Georgia are outraged. This LEO is a 7yr K9 handler and SUPPOSED to be responsible. The poor pooch was in the car in the LEO's driveway and not discovered til 9PM. Many of us are calling for his firing and animal cruelty charges filed. LEO is currently on "paid leave".

Notice, remember do not leave dogs in cars even for a little while in the sun. CNN reports a police dog was killed this way today.
