Cammy was digging a hole in our yard and dug this up...

After extensive research (don't you love the internet?!) this can is from 1947-1950. There was also a bottle (called a steinie) consistent with the type used by Acme in the same time frame, but there was no label, or markings on the bottle body. It does have marks on the underside that I have yet to interpret.

We have found lots of things buried ii our yard (apparently garbage was used to level the area around the cabin) such as an old wood burning stove, countless cans fill with rocks, and even an old tobacco can. But this beer can is the first that has led me to specific information about the era the work was done. The cabin was built in the early 40's and apparently the garage was added in the late 40's. I now understand why the garage foundation is falling over (besides the fact that it was built on a steep slope and over a big hole.)

No wonder they went out of business, couldn't even figure out the right end of the can to put the tab on.

I learned that when I was a kid because we tore down a wall at our home and found cans in the brick wall just like this so my dad told me about how cans did not have pull tabs back it the old days. Smile

hard to believe most of you are younger then pop tops.
Coors had one of the first and it was two holes that took a special can opener. The small one was the vent and opened first, and the large one you drank out of.
In Knickerbocker creek there used to be a bridge across it and there were, and probably still are thousands of old cans. I think it is just above the cemented section.
I don't remember seeing an acme but from the can I wonder if it is an early Busche beer?

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Sounds as if Acme didn't survive through the 50's. North Coast Brewing owns the brand and still makes an Acme IPA and Pale Ale. [Click Here]

Hug your family, reach out to your friends, and look around at all the new friends you've yet to make. Prayers to all those whose lives will never be the same.

Everyday I am thankfull for something.
Today a friend said "Glass half full, be greatfull you have a glass. "I would add to that even if your glass is dirty be greatfull you have a glass to clean.

It is good to see so many count their blessings. There really is so much to be grateful for...always

I'm thankful for the warm sun on my face when I wake in the morning, the whir of my ceiling fan cooling me as I go to bed, my soft puppie's fur snuggling up against me, the fact I have food to eat and family and friends that I love and that love me. Every day I wake is a new day and new chance to do better. I'm thankful for my friends on SCM, sho are always there for me, worried when I worry and this last year with my daughter's head on collision on Moonridge in Aug and then the fire up the block form my house a couple weeks ago have been trying but it is nothing like a tornado where the school is ripped to shreads. I am thankful I try to help people and for kind persons I see doing it too.

I'm thankful for each new day that brings opportunity, pause for thought and appreciation. I'm thankful for my family : the love, the chaos, the laughs, the tears... All of it. Signing off for tonight.

Orr Family Farm is next to Celetial Acres training facility but both are owned by the Orr's.

Orr Family Farm media inquiries might be worth a try: 405 609 7068 They might be able to refer them to someone. Its a nightmare now. There are many many horses unaccounted for and they are racing dark to find them and triage them. Identifying them might not happen right away. I'd be a wreck waiting to hear about my babies!

I'm thankful for my life, family and friends, including all my horses, dogs, cats, birds and every living creature that I take care of. I'm also thankful I have a bed to sleep in and a roof over my head. I'll be reall thankful for the survivors of all disasters that have happened lately...past present and future.
