From within Control Panel, access Java Control Panel, and disable Java in your browsers. Internet Explorer most at risk.

A fix may be issued next week.

I got a couple security warnings, while running Internet Explorer earlier today. I hope that means a problem was intercepted, and not simply detected.

I had a problem last year where malware bypassed several security programs. The first signs were virus and malware programs acting weird, randomly shutting down and restarting. Several days after infection, a type of ransomeware began running, and completely shut down all my anti-malware/virus programs. It created all kinds of problems. Tracking down all the issues and correcting them was quite time-consuming.

Be careful !

You may or may not have Java installed. If it is on your computer, and you need it (as I do), UNINSTALL all versions before Java 7. Then install Java 7 and follow the instructions in the news article.

I just got an automatic "Java Update Available" alert on my computer. I was going to ask y'all on here if you thought this update was enough to get Java safely running on our computers again, but then I had the thought to search Google for "Java". The first news article that came up was this: [Click Here]
Here are the first 2 paragraphs from that article:

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security warned that a security update of Oracle Corp's Java software for Web browsers does not do enough to protect computers from attack, sticking to its previous advice that the program be disabled.

"Unless it is absolutely necessary to run Java in web browsers, disable it," the Department of Homeland Security's Computer Emergency Readiness Team said on Monday in a posting on its website.

I didn't read the rest of the article as I got the info I was looking for: I'll keep Java disabled on my computer for now.

Supposedly. Is is up to SE 7 U15 now. Be sure to uninstall all previous versions first.

Y'know, Nietzsche says: "Out of chaos comes order."

a bit late to the party.. you don't need the waiver to ride the sky chair if you are walking. Only bike riders need the waiver. The walk down is a different path this year and steeper.
