Is there going to be a picnic this year? Do you still want the park or a private residence?

My family would love to participate.

My oldest son in a culinary student (he can make anything) and I enjoy competing in BBQ cookoffs (won a couple).

There's always a bbq going at the picnic, usually a potluck type deal, so you may bring or cook whatever you want and some extra to share! We're working on dates, we'll throw out a poll this weekend!

In this valley, I'll take rain ANY day! The rain didnt hamper last years picnic in anyway that I'm aware of!

No, quite to the contrary, it only added to the experience!

Sure would be nice to get some rain right about now, mid 90's Sunday, stay cool, like me.

Watching the ice chests floating away was fun!

No good deed goes unpunished.

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.

Didn’t hamper the picnic, but I about drowned. Think there is a video of it somewhere.

Can we set it on a weekend so that KK and Mike might actually get to attend this time?

I thought it was always on a weekend.

Tlingit, the permit process and criteria is on the Big Bear Fire Dept website. You need to have a fire hose and shovel at the ready at all times and the fire needs to be 25' from any combustible structure. The 25' requirement is the big issue as most lots in Surgarloaf are not very wide. I have a triple lot and zero vegetation on the ground. So I got lucky. You will need a permit if it's wood burning. Good luck.

Kenai, I'm in Sugarloaf as well. Want to install a chiminea. Beyond it being attached to a base and have a spark arrestor, I will need a permit renewable quarterly?

SSJ2012, I would be surprised if Code Enforcement is somehow tied into FD, SO or CHP responses on our area. That would be to proactive for our country government agencies. Happily per BaughHumbug short term rentals can't get the permit I was able to obtain. I am an owner and don't intend to rent the place out.

I did notice the SO chasing off all the snowplayers from the "Sugarloaf Tubing Park" yesterday... for what it's worth.

Yes 150 yards apart. Both made with that kit. They look great but I bet the folks won’t take the parts home. Will report back in spring.

Why should a neighbor report it code enforcement? Shouldn’t code enforcement automatically go out if the sheriff or fire department goes out there? Or is typical the right hand not talking to left hand. It’s like the a-hole renters shooting off fireworks in Fawnskin couple weeks ago. Thankfully these incidents are happening now rather than in the summer.

MyXJroxtheMtn and Kenai, as of last month, San Bernardino County short-term rental code prohibits ANY and ALL solid-fuel outdoor fires at all vacation rentals. No charcoal or wood BBQs (only gas or propane ok), no chimineas, no fire pits. SBC Code Section 84.28.070 (i) Safety (1). Even tho it's now after the fact, considering that the property has been a previous problem, you might want to submit a complaint to County Code Enforcement and document with Fire incident number, etc.

Kenai a neighbor called that fire in - it was renters with a big fire pit - that’s all we need is for a rental home to have a fire permit- we have enough trouble with this rental and the one next door to it -
Constant idiots every weekend stay at both
