Hey all, so I've been camping and off-roading around the BB area for the past ten years or so and have camped in most (if not all) of the campgrounds around the lake (I store my travel trailer in-town for the summer and move it to where ever I want to camp when I come UPTH) though I'm planning on buying a cabin in the next year or so.

My question is, if I wanted to post some reviews of some of the places I've camped at in the BB area would that be welcome on this forum? Most are good reviews so I'm not just looking for a place where I can air my dirty laundry, thanks!

no reason you can't but it would probably get more attention in general discussion

I would love to find a place to rent a space for our trailer for the summer that was reasonably priced. Love BB! Look forward to reviews.

Thanks all, I'll start working on getting some posted, I'm going to be in-town this weekend checking-out some new places!

Campingmom, what I've been doing for the past two summers is storing my travel trailer at a self-storage lot in BBC then when I come to town I just pick it up, tow it to wherever I'm staying for the weekend then drop it off back at the storage yard on my way out of town at the end of the weekend. My trailer is very small so I generally have no problem getting it into smaller campsites or campgrounds, plus not having it parked at one particular campground for the summer allows me the flexibility to try different places.

and add a review of the camp hosts if there were any.

Since I can't seem to find any follow up on this post, I'll post a review of Green Valley Lake Campground here.

We camped here last weekend with a group of about 12 adults and 7 kids. Those in the group with RV's got adjoining sites, but the rest of use tent campers were spread out throughout the campground. The campground was not full to capacity so it was nice to have additional space between groups and a lower noise level. Most of the sites are good sized, with plenty of room and most getting partial shade from the large trees inside the camp. Several of the sites are on a slant so be aware when booking a tent site that your get one that at least has some level ground. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained, however it is a bummer that there are now shower facilities at the park. Pay showers would make tent camping for longer times much more manageable. There is also a moderate fly problem in the campground, so bring repellant or citronella candles. Another minor gripe is the no-camp fire policy currently in effect. I understand the need for this to protect our forests, it is just not the same to roast marshmallows over a propane fire pit (which are allowed). The camp hosts were friendly and quite active making their rounds to greet campers and get everyone checked in. Some of the sites back up to a shallow ravine with a cool fallen tree bridge crossing it. It made a great playground for our kids. I believe those site numbers were 31,33-35? If you need a break from camp drive into town and rent a paddle or row boat and enjoy the lake for an hour or two. Then get a nice cool treat from the Malt Shoppe before getting back to camp. Lots of fun forest hiking and exploring is just steps from the campground.

I give it 3.75 stars out of 5

I-15 NB remains closed at Hodge Road due to an active police investigation. The best detours are NB US-395 to EB SR-58 to the I-15. Another is EB SR-18 (D St exit) to SR-247 to I-15. #Caltrans8 [Click Here]

I saw in the Wall Street Journal this morning that Alabama Courts have ruled no more curbside service, which means that no longer will an election worker will carry the sign-in sheet, and blank ballot, and perhaps a ballot marking "machine" etc., out to a car for use by a disabled person. This "service" has always (at least the last 20+ years) been a feature of California election polling places. It could be a pain in the A... for us election workers (I did that for 15+ years in LA County) and always made me wonder why somebody who had mobility problems would not simply ask for a mail-in ballot. I don't have mobility problems but I've been using a mail-in ballot for over 20 years and never worried about misdirected or lost ballots. Mail-in ballots, IMHO, are safer than ballots cast at polling places.

In other news. My wife and I went to Kmart the other day for the first time in years. I'm happy to announce that it will be the last time. That is all.

When I worked as an Elections Clerk for Inyo County many years ago, ballots were handled only by Elections Clerks, and Deputy Sheriff's. (The deputies picked up and transported ballot boxes from the outlying polling places that were 60-180 miles from the courthouse where the counting was done.)

I suspect the SBCO Elections Office has made similar arrangements for collection of ballots from official collection boxes.

@Sportyj, you're correct, they are sanctioned and approved, but you still have a "third" party handling it, so that's why I'm just a bit untrusting. Straight to the post office.

I was a letter-carrier for over 27 years. We gave special attention to mail-in ballots, making sure they were processed faster. It is safe to send your ballots through the mail, I would not drop them off at any place other than the Post Office. Back then, we even took them without stamps when postage WAS required. If you are worried about dropping them in the out going mail, hand deliver it to a window clerk. I would not place anything with a check or very important mail in a outside box, always take it inside. If you have a mail box at home, do not put important outgoing mail in it to be picked up.📪

Me too, Sportj. I just received this text. "Your ballot for the 2020 General Election was received and will be counted. Thank you for voting!".

I got a text that my ballot was counted! Wahoo! So anyone else who is waiting (after using the drop boxes) it took exactly one week.
