Quite often people ask where exactly donations go for bensweather or socalmountains for that matter.

As some of you probably noticed over the last few months, bensweather has been down quite often and typically when we needed it most during times of adverse weather. Well I'm happy to announce, due in part to the generous donations of my supporters, I have purchased a dedicated server and have moved away from my old host, no longer on a shared webserver with other websites. This will ensure better reliability in the future and more control for me to fix issues when problems arise; you may even notice the page loads much faster! Granted it costs more to run on it's own dedicated server, but will certainly be worth it for the increased reliability as we head towards what might be a pretty wet winter!

So thanks again to everyone who has donated in the past and those of you who continue to support  bensweather.com

This is a good reminder to everyone, that SCM and Ben's Weather are expensive to run. If you enjoy having access to them, please consider making a donation today.

4 dozen rabbits = 12 dozen rabbits in several weeks

Goats are browsers. They like shrubs and bushes. Think service berries, Apple trees, even raspberry bushes. You need sheep to keep weeds at bay. Don’t ask me how I know?😆

We've always had 6" limit, maybe due to 100 foot from any structure, well pump & sheds extend to a radius of ~350 ft in length.

Good news about your needles.
An after lunch duff b33r sounds nice right about now.

I was told tau the BBL Fire Dept the pine needles are ok as long as they are not more than inches deep.

My abatement deadline is also July 31. Wish it was Sept. 31. My fire hazard is described as "Weeds and grasses over 4 inches in height." No mention of pine needles, which have never been an issue by themselves, but usually get cleared when the cut weeds are raked.

So in keeping with the topic, does anyone know someone who does this work at a reasonable price?

Last 'training' class I went to with the county a couple seaons ago, we were allowed to leave 2-4" of 'Duff" That is the layer of decomposing needles/debris that usually lays on the ground out in the forest. On the flat we usually remove down to grade for cosmetic reasons, but do try and leave the duff on the hillsides for erosion control. A lot of whether you rake or not is personal preferance. Genenaly county wants the weeds down and laying flat. Some say if you don't rake you will have less weeds next year. I have yet to find this magical yard they speak of

Long, just blow em apart with your weed eater and you'll be good. They'll blow away, fall apart and decompose quick.
