I am still thinking the seating was at the base area of Bear Mountain somewhere by chair 5.

I was thinking you bight have a better take on it. I would have thought it would be backed up to the slope near the North face on the steep area and the actors down in the flat. Looking at the edges of the picture it seems to be in a canyon. But also the lenses can mislead us a little. The canyon is what we called the moonridge malt shop so I don't know it that well in the daylight. Also not knowing what the parking area looked like before could throw us off. I am sure our researchers will come up with more pictures some time.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Dennis..... I recognize that you like all historians do not like to make a statement unless it is for sure 100% accurate. If you think that your father (Harold) is not in the photograph then I would understand your reluctance. I personally do not see him there at all. I am not sure that your grandfather is there either. I do not know very much about either one of them concerning their feeling on publicity. It appears to me that neither one of them was very fond of being in front of the camera.

I am attempting to identify as many of the cast members as possible. I have basically divided the cast into five groups. Those groups are professional actors, men, women, boys (looking under 18) and girls (looking under 18). I have cross referenced the names in the program that I have on the pageant with names in the census to best determine the ages and grouping of each of the cast members. The largest group is the men which makes it difficult in identifying them. I have been able to identify many of the girls which is a smaller group. With that in mind I would like to hear what your best thoughts/guess is to which one is your aunt (Florence).

I put an arrow on the one I feel is my Aunt. I have somewhere a picture of her about that age and it looks like her, The one I would say is my grandfather but appears taller. Both the guys look like my dad. one is stern and the other is his [censored] eating grin that is my guess. As I said I think the fact that they are in character makes it difficult for me. I wouldn't think it would be such a problem. I would always rather be proven wrong rather then making a mistake. I will look through all my CD's and if that doesn't get the pictures I will have to rescan a bunch. I would have thought Ellan would have been there not Florance. Ellen was daddy's little girls and the history buff of their time. Florance was kind of the shy one. Marjorey was the one I knew best

Last night I made the first of a two part presentation on the Big Bear Pageant that was held on Fourth of July weekend in 1930. I have broken up that first part into several sections and saved them as PDFs so I could post it here. See the first section below

A half dozen low alt heli passes for Carlos, the missing off duty firefighter, were just seen.

Yesterday, I saw, by the ole goat house, Shay/baldwin, a mountain biker (phat tires kind) no helmet. That was the spitting image and build of him. I didn't have time to backtrack...
Say hey what's your name?
Chopper is back again.

Is it just Forest Falls without power still? According to the Red Cross rep at my friend's hotel, the generator/s are coming up here today and we may have power by this Friday. Guess I'm headed for the laundromat!

Spiceguy - have you had these kissing bugs in the past? I know they bite (they like to bite you in the face, ick!). Not to be alarmist but they are also known to carry Chagas disease, here is an article from the Patch, be careful!!!!
