Saturday Dec 16 dinner review.. very good to excellent.. Place was very busy.

invited our friends to Fawnskin to attend the Pink Floyd (tribute) concert at the Cave. Got a reservation for 6:15 and got right to the table.

Food was very good, fish n chips, chicken scaloppini, ribs and the Korean beef bowl with strip steak. Service was acceptable given the full restaraunt and party upstairs. Price was reasonable for the village!

Quite an extensive menu that requires us to return to try other items. I would recommend it but get a reservation.. busy place!

We went to Oakside tonight.

I had read the dreadful Yelp reviews but noted that the bad comments were all centered on poor service, not the food. Allowing that the place had just opened and staff was new, we decided to give it a try. The staff was very aware of the Yelp reviews.

Excellent service, good variety to the menu, great atmosphere in the downstairs dining area, and decent prices.

That is why I will not review a newly opened restaurant for at least 3 months. They need a "shakedown" cruise.

We shared an appetizer; Mary had the lobster and I had the Ahi with a glass of nice Riesling each. Of special note was the pan-fried white corn as a vegetable side. We enjoyed a shared pomegranate syrup drizzled cheesecake for dessert.

Yes, we will go back!

We had dinner at the Oakside restaurant tonight. A good feeling permeated the place…people just enjoying themselves!

Three comments on the delicious meal:
1. I ordered the Macadamia Crusted Filet of Hawaiian Monchong (an Oakside ‘Signature Dish’) which was noted as ‘seasonal’. Evidently, this was not the season as Halibut was served in the place of Monchong.
2. We ordered the Big Cheesecake Brulee, described as ‘Hand fired New York cheesecake dusted with powdered sugar’. What was served was a normal slice of cheesecake topped with whipped cream! No sign of ‘brulee’ at all! I was told that that was the way it was delivered?
3. A high side note: We each ordered a glass of ‘The Seeker’ Riesling (Mosel River, Germany) which was truly a fine Mosel wine.

Delicious food but read the menu carefully and send it back if not as described.

Good to know! Your server should have told you about those changes and given you a choice to order something different. They've been open long enough now that you can't really call it just kinks from being new. Sounds like more training is needed. It's relatively easy to be a regular run-of-the-mill restaurant but it requires a bit extra to be considered fine dining. I am hopeful they'll get on top of this! It's a great location and a welcome addition to the town!

There actually is a chance for something next week, what remains to be seen. But it is possible by thanksgiving, if not shortly thereafter.

Ben I didn't see 10 degrees. That was about 5 nights ago and everything I chkd was no where near. Now I know 10's. Plants are covered day late and a dollar short. Bernermom my cat weather is only good for 7 days too. But the pictures on it are precious. And I know they have a dog one too.

Sometimes the forecasts say "maybe" 25 at night and it is TEN DEGREES! Now have a bunch of frozen plants. And Ben if u remember, let me know what it looks like for that morning. I will keep ckg your weather, of course.

Awww, yes I do miss the good ole days of TV, good times, mostly...
Julie, it's a little tough right now to pinpoint timing and details that far out. We may have a low pressure system roll through early to mid next week, which doesn't look real exciting at this time, then possibly a better front pushing through the following weekend. So as it stands right now, the 23rd would be in between anything that may or may not come to fruition. But as Van mentioned, looking past 7 days out is pretty unreliable, sometimes looking 3 days out can be!

Thank you all. I also have a ton on weather apps on my phone. Usually don't care much and only care about the 23rd, 24th and 25th. Was surprised it showed snow and my 82 year old husband won't drive in ice or snow. I, like most of you, only believe Benny. Therefore, Ben what does it look like for the morning of the 23rd. PS Bernermom I even have a grumpy cat weather for .
