When I go to the SCM site I get messages saying site is unsafe. - certificate has expired or similar.

With a few extra clicks I can " proceed " but wonder if this is correct or can be fixed or eliminated ???

Hi Charles! Sorry for the late reply (some how I missed this thread). The SSL certificate for Socalmountains.com has expired. This is what makes encrypted https:// connections work. Browsers are getting much more vocal regarding SSL certificates due to the increasing amount of fraud related to online banking and other financial sites where encrypted connections are required in order to do business. The risk associated with a non SSL site is completely dependent on the type of data being exchanged between the website and the browser. In the case of a banking site, SSL is absolutely critical as otherwise your bank information could be stolen. In the case of this site, risk is limited as there is no real identity/financial data being exchanged.

So, back to the issue: I am currently working with my provider to renew/upgrade the SSL certificate. It should be back in order next week so that SSL can be utilized once again on SCM.

Thank you for the message!
-Craig

Hi Charles and everyone!

The SSL Certificate for Socalmountains.com has been updated and is now live. This means that if you use https:// instead of http:// then all traffic between your browser and the Socalmountains.com website is encrypted.

Thanks,
Craig

Oh, so I thought that I had a moth problem (20-60 moths each night for 3-4weeks). Well, as I went hiking along 2N10 on Wednesday, and cruised around the top of Snow Summit, I saw this at Chair 3... Then while heading home on 2N10, is saw more (camera doesn't do it just -- lots not seen by the camera) Yikes!! [Click Here]

Jilly, good contractors are busy. VERY busy. If your job is small they have to weigh taking time out from larger jobs that provide more money for their them and the crews they support. Have patience- or find a contractor who doesn't have a sterling reputation and so will have more time. BTW- Big Bear is actually better than many places. Took a friend in LA 3 MONTHS to get a contractor to come look at a remodel.

Crazy Tling! In the past month I've seen maybe 6 of those moths. However, the ladybugs were insane today, thousand of them all over my yard, a major swarm! I'll take that over the moths!

Weird, my cameras show the moths swarm at around 5am. I see a lot of bats in Sugarloaf gorging themselves. Good to have cameras.

DIY has a number of sites in LA basin and SF Valley. Probably is a corporate decision.

I haven't been that side of town for a couple days. Has the protester crowd got larger? If not, bet it was a HQ's decision.
