Well the main reason they went for the method they did is so they don't have to buy all new trash trucks with the arm, looks like a fairly simply modification to their existing fleet.

My major concern is having the cans out by 6am, usually they come closer to 8am which is fine, but I'm not running out at 5:30am to take the trash out.

I made my own locks on my trash cans, which are nearly identical to the can's they'll be distributing. But they need to come up with a lock so animules don't get into them at night!

Additionally, on my way home today I passed a truck headed for CSD with hundreds and hundreds of the trash cans in the back.... they're here!!!

I still want to know how this new program was put in place without a single notification to the public for their input before any decisions were made.
As i stated in my post on here earlier there are many problems with this program, not the least of which is that it involves a huge rate increase.
Now, you may be thinking that they are not raising the rates (YET), but in fact they already have because they are only allowing you to fill this one can each week for pickup with the current fee structure. If you need more trash can space you will have to purchase another bin to the tune of $200+ more each year or find other ways to get your remaining trash to the dump at your own expense.
The current program allows you to put out up to 12 bags of yard trash and 4 trash cans of household trash each week.
The new program will force homeowners to do their annual yard cleanup and either haul it themselves to the dump, provided they have the means to do so, or pay for dumpsters from the CSD or hire someone else to haul in there, all at additional expense in time and money.
How does this huge reduction in what they’ll pick up each week not add up to a large price increase?
If you are a part timer with property up here and have lots of pine needles have fun paying a lot more money for yard waste disposal or coming up every week just to fill the one and only trash can allotted to you....
Whoever voted for this program on the CSD board without open and public input should be fired, plain and simple. They work for us and are supposed to look out for the public interest. ( yeah, i know, since when do public officials do that anymore, if they ever did).......

I understand that parts of Moonridge got their cans delivered today. The madness begins.

Weed mogs were the really neat machines that were out on the lake every day during summer cutting and harvesting all the weeds that grow in the lake. massive amounts these machines would remove. Then the lake district went with some new super chemical that was the one to save all mankind. Well, I think we all know how well that worked out but no one really noticed right away because of the receding lake levels. Once the levels came back up, weeds impacted everything and the couple of little floating weedeaters left behind just can't keep up. All the good equipment was sold off first couple years of the chemical program because we would 'never' need them again.

Moonridge? I thought this was a CSD thing, or was it on the Bear City side of Division/Moonridge?

Parts of Big Bear City received their cans as well . . . out of the back of a U-Haul truck. I can't help but wonder how many trucks they rented and at what expense.

Good tip using nylon rope. I can see a few trapezoidians below me that have lasted. Hey, check ur fridge temps. My b33r and almond milk were not up to snuff.

Yes I used a 16 foot triangle. The triangles are smaller than you might think, so the larger the better.

I know, move the grass, dogs and work area to North facing side. It's not the big deck tho'.

Quakes🦊 that's why I'm chatty.

Jelly, are those the triangle shapped shaders? I've used water misters but the well pump booster overheats & burns out.

For shade, I have used shade sails quite successfully in Baldwin Lake. (One type is in use at DIY over their garden center.)

I used Cool-a-roo. Excellent brand. They are heavy-duty, resistant to sunrot, and sturdy. I used nylon rope to secure them. Polyester rope rots quickly, cotton frays quickly.

An Industrial retractable awning using half-round siding on metal reinforced metal tracking & two harbor freight 2500# ATV winches at each end. Bet mountainart would whip up the plans in a heartbeat ❤ L0L, just kidding.

Yeah South facing is where our dogs have turd turf grass. I keep that sun shade mesh over grass, but gotta hose deck down every hour or so. Go potty! Been worried about a pergola/awning to build cuz the winds, at times, could rip it off. And winter sun angle heats the house.

DooHickey, Based on that I think they need to issue a VERY excessive heat warning for Baldwin

I know BBV doesn't have an excessive heat warning, but a door mat melted to the deck! Rubbermaid with carpet tread. Scraping deck off...wild
