Yeah, I know they are carp, but wanted to create my own around its design w/different materials. Anything easier than those cables. I haven't needed to put them on for like 6 years or so. AWD/FWD or just don't drive!

Z-cables are the best compromise. Easy to install, not cheap but not incredibly expensive. Compatible with most vehicles.

Those tire wraps are more of a European thing than functional here in the States. Can't drive them directly on road surfaces, only on actual snow and they will give you "some" better traction, but they can't compete with actual chains. They are generally made out of Kevlar and you'll wear right through them on Blacktop in a heartbeat.

Since your life and the lives of everyone riding with you and on the road around you depends upon you maintaining control of your vehicle in less than ideal conditions.......DON'T GO CHEAP!! Get the BEST chains you can for your particular vehicle....or stay off the mountain for everyone's sake.

Oh....and BTW, practice putting on chains BEFORE you have to......just saying.

I carry Tire Socks to get through chain control checks in my Subaru. Don't plan to ever use them, but they are light weight and pack in the car well. If it's R3 I'm staying home or down the hill until conditions change. I have that kind of leeway but I realize others don't. I would't count on using these more than once as they will wear out quickly on dry pavement, likely before you get from the chain check to the snow on the road.

Heading up to cedar lake I met two very well driven downbound huge tour buses using, yes, socks in lieu of chains. No slipping either tho road wasn't snowy at the time...

RE: "I have killed up to 200 moths in my house in the last 3-4 weeks."

We have killed more than that in just a single evening.....thankfully they seem to be dissipating. Only had about 40 last night.

Thanks Carol, looked Tony Timpa up. Very tragic and of course, no riots, didn't fit the agenda.

@Razz ideally, too the leadership of this country, to whom could show some great strength by trying to console and unify this country. It's kinda working at the local and state levels, but that's not enough. And I'll leave it at that.
