It would be nice is to be asked before they start the spending. Bang we got a fire department helicopter based in Big Bear. The cost, A full time paramedic crew staffing it 24/7 not just servicing us but everywhere

Please research appropriately.... That helicopter literally costs the department and tax payers nothing via the Partnership with Mercy Air. If anything its slightly cash flow positive... I see you have posted quite a bit of information, some of it grossly incorrect or miss represented.

I posted all the links for all the information I posted! We supply the medic crew on the helicopter.

That was already covered a couple of times in pages back... Agreed, the life flight is a great asset to have around!

I've voted no on Measure I. RMB please kindly note your claim that the medical evacuation helicopter is "cash flow positive" is a meaningless statement. If what you mean is that a profit is being made, then we'd all be overpaying our property taxes and/or for non-covered services.

Let me preface this by saying that I didn't get to read the full story because I don't have a subscription.
But in this article: [Click Here] it mentions that the consolidating of the (formerly) 2 fire depts. up here was still a work in progress as recently as 2019. So where's that million dollars a year they told us would be saved by combining the 2 departments?
Or was that just a lie all along?

Interesting... the argument was never a comparison of year to year, so much as they all appear to be overpaid, he missed addressing that part. Much, much larger cities have fire chiefs that make far, far less.

My reason for voting NO on Measure I is that it will create a MELLO-ROOS tax WITHOUT AN END DATE FOR PROPERTY TAX INCREASES OF 5% EVERY YEAR WITHOUT END.
On Page 6 of the Big Bear Fire Authority CFD No. 2019-1 (BBFA Fire Protection and Emergency Services) just below the Table 1 it states:
"On each July 1, commencing on July 1, 2021, the Maximum Special Tax A, including all minimum and maximum amounts indicated in Table 1 above, (SHALL BE INCREASED (BUT NOT DECREASED) by the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index not to exceed five percent (5.0%) of the amount in effect for the previous year."
That is a huge HELL NO from me. What a nightmare. Our property taxes will be increased 5% yearly FOREVER!
Definitely not in my budget.

At the Thursday night meeting, Feb 13. Fire Chief Willis said that the Mello-Roos district "Does not contemplate Bonds in any form". He also said that "Bond financing has nothing to do with Measure I". These are both false. The resolution passed on August 6, 2019, includes Bonds as a financing. This was posted online by Big Bear Taxpayers Association.
