False.
Masks cannot possibly prevent the spread of a virus. They might be able to slow it down a little, but that would be about it. Viruses are simply not going to be stopped by a porous mask that has pores much larger than the virus itself. It just isn't logical to expect that. Anyone who doesn't have the antibody yet, will in fact eventually come in contact with it and will then need to produce the antibody. That's just how it works, really.

The idea that as long as everybody wears masks then nobody will get sick at all, is just not thought through very well.

Folks, just take care of your immune system. Wear the mask if you like... but they cannot stop transmission.

If you want to self-quarantine, and expect that you will never ever come in contact with it, then do so. The rest of society will recognize the fallacy in that and will go on living life.

Always looking for microphones, vacuum tubes, music production and recording equipment, old broadcasting equipment, electronic test equipment, large vintage speakers, vintage stereo/audio equipment, and stuff like that...

That was spot on. A mask will prevent you from spitting on someone when you talk, which is better than nothing. But factually speaking, it does not stop the bacteria down to 1-2 microns, they're not meant to do that and won't.

Billy Jean is at your door.

No shaming. Fact. It has already been proven that masks and face coverings help to prevent the spread of the virus.

Do masks help? Yes, but also no. Lol.

When you are close enough, masks are completely ineffective. Like Billyjean and AudioGuy stated they help reduce the amount of saliva/moisture spread naturally by breathing, talking, etc.

Here is a study where COVID patients coughed into a petri dish with masks on. They did nothing to stop the spread. However, this test was not conducted at a distance of 2-3 feet where it probably would have reduced it somewhat.

My opinion is that if they keep businesses open and help avoid further economic damage by shutting everything down again; I'll gladly wear mine.

I do not agree, however, when people shame others or effectively "Karen" them for not wearing them. Its a free country and its their choice.

We have 3 friends who used the drop box at the Library and they all have been received by the tracking. Dropping ours off tomorrow.

I dropped mine off at the post office yesterday, received confirmation of receipt today from ballottrax (you have to sign up for it and updates come from caballottrax via email at every step of the way). Interested to see how long before it gets delivered to elections office but at least I have documentation.

Dave - I called the elections office and they said to give ours until next Monday before we move forward with “next steps” (whatever that means). Knowing yours was dropped over a week ago and still hasn’t been updated makes me even more worried. Hoping our ballots are not lost!

We deposited ours in the library drop box on Monday. Haven't received notification yet either.

Benny - I wish I would have just used the post office. Had spoken with some people who said to try and limit the impact on PO since already overburdened. Apparently that was bad advice. There are two official drop boxes in Big Bear - apparently they are only picking up every 96 hours. Hopefully I can locate my ballot!

Mailed it from the post office, was scanned in transition and received pretty quick. I would probably just mail it. It should have registered by now, unless they're only emptying that once a week? I didn't think we even had drop boxes up here for that? Really no need with all the post offices.

Has anyone else used the ballot drop boxes in town? I dropped mine at the library a week ago and it’s still not showing up as received at the county office.
