Let me throw this out there. You all might just remember that the first few months of 2018 was another devastating round of the Big Bear Crud. problem with it this time was there were a number of people that didn't have the on/off for 3-4 weeks but were dropped to their knees and home bound for 6-8 weeks. I remember coming home from work New Years Eve, going to bed and not coming back to the office until March. Ended up on an inhaler thanks to that little bought. Didn't have enough air in my lungs to climb into my truck. And there wasn't the periods of feeling OK before crud attacked. This one was full on and again, didn't feel like the flu. HMMMMMMMMMMMM

Side thought, if these oddball sicknesses were something to do with CoronaVirus, then maybe there is possibility we might have something of an immunity like a vaccine. Hope hope hope

The biggest, most blatant irony of all for me in this whole panic is that the resulting global recession, which has already begun, will claim far far far more lives than this virus. Recessions are deadly, particularly for those who's incomes were marginal to begin with.

"A 2016 study by researchers at Imperial College London found that the last global financial crisis caused 500,000 cancer deaths worldwide between 2008 and 2010. They found a correlation between each percentage increase in unemployment, and an uptick in cancer deaths.

Another study in 2014 by University of Oxford researchers found over 10,000 suicides tied to the Great Recession in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The two studies referenced above found 510,000 deaths directly tied to the Great Recession."

The DOW gain was in response to a hopeful passage of a stimulus bill. The unemployment numbers come out Thursday. Goldman Sachs is projecting a possible 2.25 million or more new jobless claims in the next few weeks. That's a gigantic number in a very short time period. That's going to hit like a ton of bricks; unemployed people don't spend money.

Except for booze, cigs and drugs. They always seem to have money for those necessities. That isn't going to recharge our economy.

Here's the thing Airport. I'm now unemployed from the hotel industry, and who knows for how long. I went to the grocery store yesterday and one of my purchases was the biggest bottle of vodka I can afford. Now I don't smoke and I don't do drugs but if you think I'm gonna get through this without alcohol you're freaking nuts. For the sake of my neighbors and society in general vodka and coffee are a must, food is optional.

CP, Trust me, I fully understand the why. Have been down in the portion of the gutter before and a lot of your time is spent just ignoring and looking the other way at your plight. Sometimes it is just a challenge to make to the next day with some assemblence of sanity. CHEERS
