The % number that you want to look at is the positive tests versus TOTAL tests given. The more testing that is done, the more positive tests you have, DUH! But the important number for opening up is the % of positive tests compared to TOTAL tests given. In AZ our positive go up every day because of the testing blitz for the last 3 weeks. However the % of positives to the number tested drops everyday. 3 weeks ago we had 7% of total tests as positive. Today we are at 5.6% positives compared to total tests given and the downward trend continues each day.

So if you watch the right numbers and not the media hype numbers, it seems to reflect a fairly normal flu season.

As far as mask or no mask, I leave that up to the businesses I use. They worked during the lock-down or they were forced to close and if the owner wants me to wear a mask with my shirt and shoes before I enter the store, that is the least I can do. They have that much coming. And for those to selfish and stuck on themselves and claim constitutional rights, you should go take a class in constitutional law and learn just how a constitutional republic works, it is NOT a democracy and the majority is not always right nor do they always win.

Stay safe and be happy!

Several TV reports today on Big Bear Lake decision. Showed the mountains with snow and boats on the lake.

Get ready, here they come

According to data this is been one of the longest flu seasons in the United States at 22 weeks. Death toll runs between 24,000 and 62,000.
United States will likely hit 100,000 Covid19 deaths either buy or slightly into June, with all the isolation measures taken and about 8 weeks in. It looks like this pandemic beats the crud out of a normal flu season. We should wait until it’s over to do comparisons accurately but misinformation only puts the wrong ideas into people’s heads making them take foolish chances. Stay safe.

Look at CDC death numbers, then look at last years death (cause of) numbers. Elderly, age related, and underlying health issues(diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, pulmonary degradation) deaths are down 11% from last year. But these people are still dying, at the statistical same rate in the United States.

Hospitals get a ton of federal funding reimbursements if the C.O.D. is listed as Covid 19. John and Ken last week had a doctor on who unequivically stated that there is massive overreporting of cause of death as Covid 19, he brought up an example in his hospital of a liver failure in a lifelong heavy drinker with end stage cirrhosis of the liver as covid death, because he had antibodies in his system

I thought this sounded too farfetched, until I looked at the ratios of yearly deaths, and noticed a decrease in "normal" deathrates from diseases. But of course, they are still dying, at the statistical same rate, so where are these deaths being categorized into?

The Covid numbers are definitely fudged to the upside, undisputedly. 600 doctors signed an open letter to Trump stating that possibly half of reported covid deaths are incorrect. Even in Manhattan hospitals, ventilators are left unused, in Los Angeles, hospitals that geared up for covid triage possibilities have excess capacity unused. Mainstream media deliberately ignore this inconvenient fact as it weakens their impact on viewers/listeners fears.

If by LARGE jump you mean about 150 out of over 2-million people, I guess yes, a large jump. Though a large jump would really be in the thousands. 150 per day seems pretty small. Which by the way, if you look at the cases since this began, the stay at home order had little impact, the numbers have been steadily increasing 50-200 per day since the onset. Interesting side note... [Click Here]

But overall, numbers are coming down, leveling off and hospital visits are way, way down. Things are definitely improving!

Billy Jean is at your door.

The media love to report all the negatives! Things are looking better and we need to open up. Our Governor needs to base decisions on the data not fear. MoutainArt you said it perfectly.

My concern in all of this is will Big Bear now experience an increase in cases of COVID19. Also expecting visitors to be responsible enough to bring their own supplies is wishful thinking. Same thought about wearing masks - there are people that just refuse to wear them which I feel is selfish.

DH, that is interesting and may explain why I don't see that many moths in Boulder Bay and see an increasing presence of bears. I say that kind of tongue-in-cheek but who knows.
