I go home everyday and on weekends turn on my computer and have never had a problem. Maybe it just happens during the day when I'm not home. I was just trying to figure out if its because you don't use it all the time thinking that could be the problem. I have nothing against part timers or as tradition would call you all flatlanders.

Craig, I have not experienced any Charter internet troubles here on Red Ant Hill, and I really have not noticed any troubles at Summit with Charter. Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Baby

Hey, CAt.... Never thought you had a problem with part-timers! : ) Understand that you're just trying to figure out what's going on.
So, around 5:30, Charter called, a machine voice, and said the problem had been cleared. Well....NOT. So then hubby unplugged it all and started it up again.... after about a half hour, it worked. Wonder if Swilda's works.... wonder if she needs to unplug hers. If anyone knows how to contact her, I hope they will tell her all this.

I don't have a problem with part timers. I do have a problem expressing myself in a chat room.
If your DTH and something happens with charter up here and you come up and your cable isn't working it might need to be rebooted like you just did!! I always reboot first. Enjoy your weekend part timer. I mean flatlander. Jk with you. Glad you got it fixed
I think the initial post Juliann made today was about Charter cable (TV). Then Cat was talking about Charter's internet service. One can work fine and the other not work at all. We haven't noticed any problems with Charter internet this week. We dropped Charter cable TV recently because they didn't want to broadcast the Angels baseball games.

Cammy, you're right.... I was only talking about Charter cable TV. I didn't notice that Cat was talking about Internet. We were having no problem with the computer, only cable TV. Wonder if Swilda got her cable TV working.

I am over Charter. I come up the hill a few times a month and half of the time it does not work and I have to call for service. Switching to Direct TV.
Don't forget to let one of us DirecTV customers refer you to them. We both get $100 bill credit that way. I can't tell you how many of my family members have switched before I could tell them of that deal... I wouldn't doubt this Charter problem is due to the OLD wires on the OLD poles. Big Bear is old.
Uhhhm, duh, but they just ran all brand new fiber optical lines. And since we've all been complaining it seems to have improved! FOLLOW @BENSWEATHER NOW ON TWITTER!

They made the main distribution system all fiber optic over a decade ago. I remember when they were making the change because the feed to Lake Williams passes near my place. It stilll looks all new and shiny. If there's a problem, it most likely would be between your local node and your house which is back to regular coax. The distribution and node boxes can have problems as they are not just passive devices (i.e. they are active circuits).
We had a lightning strike that cooked the end of the cable where it entered the house, and it went undetected for a couple of years until it finally deteriorated enough to get intermittent.
Lots of stuff can go wrong with all of the systems, even fiber. Bookie....No, still in NC. Working hard, very busy, very bruised and having fun! Haven't had a day off since I've been here. I'm less than 5 min. a beautiful beach (so they tell me) and I haven't even seen it yet.
