it be all reative. all us lokals is realatives. either father sister or brother some times all three at the same time. actualy someone who says you are not a local has not been up there long enough to be one. It's just that some are more loco I mean local then others
you can decide for yourself just substitue local for redneck, or leave it it is about the same

I would bet that Holloways and Pleasure Point were always having to move to deeper water as Metcalf is primarily shallow. I remember just as little as six years ago Metcalf was almost completely dry until you got pretty far out especially near Lintner Rd and Metcalf Ln.

BBB yeah they would all go out pretty far at times. in the map I posted they show holloways clear out on the point. I never saw it like that one year boulder bay marina was about a half mile out towards the end of the bay. most boaters from those days, maybe even now could tell which dock by the color of their boats. I think that may be pleasure point as I only remember seeing one building on holloways.
most also would move their docks in the winter to a bay to protect them Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

In fact, after Jan 2005 when all of the rains hit and melted the Dec snow we got the lake started filling up rather quickly. THe middle of the lake looked like something of a demolition derby with docks of all kinds smashing and bumping into each other and the new bigger shore. Captain John's Fawn Harbor had to go so far out for water that when the rains came he was actually in the middle of teh lake and the demolition derby. It was quite a funny scene. Not to funny for those who had to spend mooga bucks on their docks, though.

In about 65 the lake was so low that it was about 300 yards from inspiration point (zebra room) and you couldn't get within 100 yards because it was a swamp. Grays may have still been open but the others were high and dry. When the lake finally came up it was coming up so fast you could see it moving. I was trying to help prepare a dock by putting barrels under it and we were in mud before we finished I think if it were my idea I would have put in a couple then floated in ones full of water andpumped out the water Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I think it filled to capacity in 69 70 there was 5 feet of snow on the ground at times. Earlier (would guess about 66) was when we had quite a bit of snow on the ground then about three days of warm heavy rain that melted it all and that was when it filled almost overnight. It had gotten so bad that fishing from the old dam would be a good 30 feet drop off the lake side and almost dry off the back you could drive across the lake from lagonita point or Gilner point Due to the channel the crossing itself was closer to the Gilner side You could walk across from Eagle point but it was not as dry as it looked and a slimy mud that would pack about 4 inches deep on your shoes There were two lakes at that time
again I suggest you watch "the werewolf" the lake was very low in the cenes that show the lake behind the old fire station Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

69 They also sand bagged the top of the dam too prevent the water from going over the top afraid it would have caused problems. The water level of the lake had an additional foot. There was years of stuff out on the lake floor when it came up so fast. Corals and stables for horses. The sand and gravel plant in Grout Bay with all the conveyors and material piles just north of the campground looked like little islands in the lake. Someone built a cabin over off lakeview about 6’ too low and water level went across the sliding glass door on the first floor. I kind of wonder about some of homes out in Baldwin Lake today I think the lake has been higher than that, anyway back to 69. One other big thing was a dredging crane over at Cluster Pines. After the lake filled up the water was over the top of the cab and the boom was the only thing sticking out of the lake about forty feet. There were years of stuff out floating around out in the lake and a lot of boats. The water was so beautiful and crystal clear you see so far into and deep in to it. Sit and watch the trout swimming around looking at the bait on your hook, come on it’s lunch time.
