BootsNBridles5 hour(s) ago The chain restrictions need updating anyway! A few years ago the made a big 4x trick stop and put on chains but let the mini coupe with chains through! If you are chaining up large 4x4s nothing else should get through!

Dr B: if you have 4wd, cables should suffice (chains for 4wd is overkill -- if conditions are that bad where you need chains (instead of cables) on 4wd you should really reconsider what are you doing out on the road.
Also, don't assume a chain installer will be available to do an install.
