Cause: Under Investigation

Firefighters from the US Forest Service and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a report of smoke at Glass Road at State Highway 38 this afternoon.

US Forest Service Firefighters and a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Franklin spotted the smoke down below the highway, however locating the fire in the heavily wooded area proved to be a challenge. US Forest Service Air Attack Officer Bob Will helped firefighters on the ground locate the fire and assisted with finding the best route into the fire area. Once firefighters made access to the fire, they quickly held the fire to one acre, which burnt in heavy duff and grass.

Five fire engines (4–USFS 1-SBCoFD) and one water tender supported by the Heaps Peak Helitack Helicopter quickly held the fire to one acre.
