Beautiful east end day

Took a ride up 2n93 to Wildhorse Meadow and a bit beyond today.






Great view of San G on the way up towards Sugarloaf



Attached to that rattle is a 5' Southern Pacific that was just lounging in the sun. Big boy about 1 3/4 to 2" diameter. He just gave me two blasts of his rattle and went under the fallen tree. I was so intent on watching him I almost forgot to get a picture.



Rock said he had a family reunion this weekend. Looked more like a convention. Luckily it is only about an 18% grade in this area.

Another beautiful day in paradise.
I'd like to know how the ROCK family always knows where I'm headed. They must be smarter than they look. Almost have to be.

VERY close encounter of the coiled kind. This guy was not happy. Sorry for the quality, I was a bit freaked out.


The trail I was coming down is the loam and rocks on the right of the picture. The grasses are 4-6" tall. Since I had a friend tagged (thankfully a dry bite) last year in Acton this was way to close for me. He didn't rattle until I was about 10' past him. Never saw him till I walked back up to see where he was.
