The F-word

Anyone have a miraculous solution for the ubiquitous foxtails? Kids got a new puppy and the warnings about horrific injuries from foxtails is so disturbing.

Thanks.

Your title grabbed me, well played.

By subject matter, I did not know of this: [Click Here]

Dog walks here are usually in the evening and as the abatement travesty becomes neglected, those stick in the paw/cheek, have become a 'Wudda got' 'come here lemmie get that' ritual.
But dang, I did not realize how bad it could get. Having 9, blk pugs, is an eye cleaning every morning.

Get your man to weedwhack. Or trample them as you walk them, kick 'em, stomp like a cardio session.

Spot on bringing this up.

My yard was infested with these when I first moved here 15 years ago and I can tell you weedwhacking is only temporary. You have to pull them up with the roots if you hope to achieve any reduction in foxtails over the years. This is most easily done in spring when the ground is soft and damp. The "tails" will remain a problem especially after they dry out and appear dead because they are now loose and waiting for your pup's little feet.

If you're a kindhearted soul with the spare time and energy, take a bag on your walks and pull up other people's and forge a safe path for the next time.
