"Firefighters from Multiple agencies snuff another Fire near Bluff Lake in Big Bear"

The Champion Fire was reported at approx 4:27pm. Ben Brissey from BensWeather.com was one of the first to report this fire to 911 after seeing smoke from the north shore of Big Bear Lake. Forest Service, County Fire, Big Bear Fire, and CalFire units were dispatched to this fire and they made access to the fire at around 5:00PM. Air Attack 12 along with 3 helicopters were also used to fight this fire with some of them dipping out of Big Bear Lake. Fixed wing air tankers were immediately put on hold at the time of dispatch and were not utilized on this fire. At 5:56PM "Champion" Incident Command reported they had a containment line around the fire. Although the smoke is nearly gone, crews will continue mop up of the fire into the evening. The Champion fire burnt approx 1/4 of an acre and was located very near the "Bluff" fire which occurred 2 weeks ago today. That fire also burnt around 1/4 of an acre. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the USFS.

THANK YOU FIREFIGHTERS!

Thank goodness Benny and others saw this smoke so early and reported it!!!! Only 1/4 acre burned.... I didn't even know about the other fire 2 weeks ago. I'm thinking there are homeless back in this area? I sure hope this area is monitored much more than it has been.....
