Thanks for posting these Skyline. I love seeing all the old cars from when you could actually tell one make and model from another. More importantly, I appreciate being able to view the lake from the downtown area.

I look at the cars in the images I try to remember whose cars they were; Knick was a good player at that game. The white t-bird at the post office the black Pontiac on pineknot the new black Camaro at and the el-camino it looks to have side boards in the bed. The cars are cool some you might still see driving around the valley. You can view a lot of old images of Big Bear on ebay not many of the 60s 70s. Images I have not came across any of the fighter Jet that was at Meadow Park, the half-track that set at LH Liquor for years.

In the bottom 2 pictures of the bumper cars looks like my parents 63 Chevy pick up. Not sure when in 72 that was taken. I was born in June so if it was before I was born that could very well be my parents truck (which became mine when I turned 16.)

Some of those cars look pretty familiar! I remember the jet at Meadow park.

I really like the 1970s photos in this thread, since I was a student at BBMS and BBHS from 1970 to 1975...this photo of the 1920s Cornet Store on Village was interesting to me because it shows the original Cornet, perhaps on the same lot as the rebuilt Cornet in the 1972 photo above. Does anyone know for sure? Also, what was the business in the building just west of the old Cornet (where the parking lot is shown in the 1972 photo)?

The photo of the Village is pre-June 1941 because the Grizzly Theater is still there. The Cornets building was originally "Bartlett's Market". That building was later turned 90 degrees to make room for the new Cornets structure. The business to the west of Cornets is the "Big Bear Studio" a photography store.

Thanks, SenorSausage for the guide to that picture! I never realized Cornet was in a different configuration originally, nor did I realize that the Safeway was on that main section of Village before it moved east towards Knickerbocker!

Thanks again!
