It's that time again! We're all crossing our fingers for another great winter season!

There is no signal in the ocean near the equator (mix) meaning we have no El Nino/La Nino (neutral conditions).
However, worthy of noting that much of the Pacific Ocean waters are running above average, going by this, we "should" have a near normal year.

Last year's precipitation amounts were above normal, with most areas receiving at least 80" of snow, compared to our normal of about 62"

Long range forecast models suggest we will be near, to below average this winter season with an early Spring. However, there are equal chances for us to have below, near or above average precipitation this winter season. Not including any potential atmospheric river events, which can happen in any season, regardless of sst anomalies.

Per the norm, totals will be tallied on bensweather.com, where hopefully we'll all watch the numbers increase rapidly this season!

Snowfall totals will be averaged out with each storm based on reports from trained weather spotters throughout the Big Bear Valley; i.e., if Fawnskin receives 8" and Baldwin Lake 4", it will be recorded officially as 6".

There's no purchase necessary, 1 entry per user and only one guess per forecast #. (ie, 2 people can't forecast 62"). Numbers available are based on first come, first picked basis, so start guessing away!

Entries are now officially open! We're looking for the total snowfall for the season, now through June 1st.

We'll accept entries now through November 15th, so there's plenty of time for everyone to enter!

The grand prize will be the ever so prestigious lifetime membership to Socalmountains.com and a $50 Amazon gift-card.

Simply reply to this thread with your snowfall forecast and I'll publish an updated list weekly.

HERE'S THE UPDATED SNOWPOOL! WE'RE AT 48" OFFICIALLY, A LITTLE OVER A FOOR FROM OUR SEASONAL AVERAGE OF 62" AND STILL PLENTY OF WINTER LEFT!

EVEN THOUGH WE'RE IN A BIT OF A DRY PATCH, FEBRUARY AND MARCH ARE STATISTICALLY OUR WETTEST MONTH SO WE'LL HOPE FOR THE BEST!

While it doesn't look like we'll get a ton of snow from our current storm, Monday-Tuesday's storm shows more hope! Preliminarily I think we could pick up around a half foot of new snow next week, possibly more storms behind that even!

Yep! Time to call it! While not entirely unheard of to have a late season snow in early June, that appears unlikely and we ran the contest to the end of May this season, after our late season snow last year
