Dear Students, Families and Staff:

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 School Year! Beginning this year in a non-traditional way creates mixed emotions for all of us. Understanding that our students and teachers will miss coming together in the physical classrooms, we are making every effort to create digital classrooms that foster a sense of
community for our students.

Distance Learning for the 2020-2021 School Year will include daily live online interaction with the classroom teacher to ensure students receive high quality instruction in all subject areas. Your teachers will conduct these live lessons throughout the regular school day using Zoom or Google Meets. Classroom teachers will provide families their schedule of daily live lessons for the week to create a regular routine for our students. Middle school and high school students will attend the virtual classroom each assigned period for the semester. This year attendance will be taken daily and grades will be issued for assignments. Students will receive whole group, small group and individual instruction to ensure students are provided the support needed to achieve. Google Classroom will be the format all teachers will use to provide online assignments.

What will the first day of school look like on August 3rd? Teachers will email an invitation to their Google Classroom to your child’s email by this Friday, July 31st at 6:00 p.m. Instructions to access Google Classroom will be provided by your site principal or classroom teacher with the link to the
classroom and the school’s hours. Each principal will be sending information out on their websites, app, and through our all call system to provide additional information to pick up instructional materials. Chromebook distribution schedules are listed on the District website at bearvalleyusd.org.

Our school offices and District Office are open during regular hours to serve you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your classroom teacher, principal or the District Office. Please know we understand the many difficulties facing our families during these challenging times. Providing the highest quality education for all students while maintaining the health and safety of our students, staff
and community remains a top priority. In order to receive the most up to date information, please visit the District website, Facebook page and watch for notifications on our District app. We strive to serve our families, please let us know what we can do to help you.

Sincerely,
Mary Suzuki
