Crissy, I hear ya! We got a Generac "standby" generator a few years ago, and it has MORE than paid for itself in terms of peace of mind and comfort too! Can be run off of propane or natural gas (we chose gas, but it can be converted anytime).

16 kilowatts powers the entire house - we can literally run all appliances simultaneously (not that we need to, but it's nice to know). We have it set to wait 10 seconds before transferring off the grid so it won't switch over just for brief outage "blips."

We get it serviced annually, but that's all it has needed in 6 years. Gosh, I sound like a salesperson but I'm simply a satisfied customer.

Finally a day off to get some work done around the house and voila, I guess I’ll just be forced to relax the way we did before the dark times…💤

The Village and above to the south didn’t lose any power today.

It's quite likely they're running the valley generator, but don't have enough power to light up the entire valley. So they're likely electrifying grids in rotation to give everyone a break.

Power's been out on the west end since 9 PM, yet we can see lights on around the valley. So it's a "selective" PSPS? Or is BVES rationing by cutting power to one section for hours at a time?
