mountainart13 hour(s) ago I think you can see at least the grocery bandits on youtube?
mountainart13 hour(s) ago it was at a semi-theme amusement park called Old Town, Kissimmee. if constant old noisy roller coasters full of screaming people every few minutes below you don't affect your choice of nesting, nothing will
Doggie Daddy14 hour(s) ago Mountainart, I would totally pay to watch the rollercoaster eagles grabbing food from carnival goers, or eagles snagging grocery bags. By the way, what do you call a rollercoaster eagle? A Carney-vore? Ba-dum tsss. 🙃
Doggie Daddy14 hour(s) ago I'm glad to see that some folks are willing and able to see more than one perspective when discussing eagle habitat. PolarOrbit, you are right, there is always a lot going on around that SWFL nest.
watchful15 hour(s) ago My nephew in Alaska says that up there, bald eagles are like seagulls: huge flocks hanging around the docks. I suppose the allure here is due to their comparative rarity this far south - and in a desert mountain range, no less. Hearty birds they are!
Polar 🌌rbit16 hour(s) ago Thanks for the TRUTH mountainart. If you look online for the SWFL eagles you will see them 50 feet from a 4 lane hwy with a sidewalk of eagle watchers between a house and church with horses grazing underneath.
mountainart16 hour(s) ago of those homes are built, they will not care
mountainart16 hour(s) ago worry about eagles nesting sites is silly. when we were living in montana, they made nests wherever they could see prey and didn't care about a human value like "peace" or "solitude". rhey would literally nest on the roof peaks of apt buildings in Bigfork, where they could pook for the rats running around the dumpsters. adults would teach the youngsters how to sit in the sun side so they could swoop down unseen. When we used to vacation in Kissimmee, there was a huge eagle nest on a light pole above the FunSopt rollercoaster, where they would swoop down to grab food the carnival goers dropped. They don't care, literally, about humans being loud. I am amused by all the people erroneously believing they need their peace and quiet, from the big scary humans. When you see them bum rushing shoppers coming out of the grocery store to steal their grocery bags, you realise they are just opportunistic scavengers that get a pass because they look "noble".
holeinbow22 hour(s) ago Yeah we had an outage about 3 am on red ant hill, Just long enough to have to fumble for the flashlight, maybe 5 minutes
