holeinbow10 hour(s) ago Outage definitely motivated me to do maintenance on the whole kerosene lamp collection and collect all the other lights and assess them. When they announced power coming back on at midnight i ran the fridge via generator for 2 hours, enough to save its contents so nothing was lost . With my small inverter running in the nissan i was able to charge 2 tablets, the phone, an led floodlight, and my hearing aids in about an hour, so it was a pretty good preparedness drill. Takeaways are to keep 5 gallons of gas on hand, find an easier way to plug in the fridge, and keep the kerosene collection maintained twice a year instead of just in the fall, and to buy more led camp lights, not just the silly toy led lights. Came through it ok but was mightily pissed that it had to come down to an outage, doubly so because bves has a power plant right there at their yard, but not the cojones to start it when we need it most.
mimoo14 hour(s) ago I did just see the P.S.PS. warning through midnight. Thanks for the heads up, I thought it was a done deal. Im hoping that we're clear of any more outages
SCM ALERT🚨14 hour(s) ago BVES PRESS RELEASE, SAT 3PM Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) is notifying customers that Southern California Edison (SCE) has restored power from the initial Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) affecting BVES supply lines. Southern California Edison (SCE) continues to have a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) affecting BVES supply lines. The period of concern is today, starting at 3:00 p.m until 12:00am June 22nd. This precaution is mainly due to high winds and aims to reduce wildfire risk. Power restoration typically takes 8 hours, and will start after the wind subsides. Delays may occur if daylight is required for safe inspections.
